Recently Toyota Research Institute released a video showcasing its Guardian and Chauffer platforms for autonomous driving. Guardian is for drivers who will mostly be in control of the vehicle, but it is designed to intervene if necessary. Chauffeur, on the other hand, is primarily autonomous and can detect all kinds of obstacles on the road, including unique situations and those that regular drivers may be unable to see.
