Using the Toyota hands-free liftgate
To activate the hands-free, foot-activated power liftgate on the 2018 Toyota RAV4, all you need to do is place your foot under the sensor, which is located in the middle of the rear bumper under the license plate, for less than 2 seconds. You must have the Smart Key remote with you in order for the foot-activation to work.
Other tips for using the power liftgate on the 2018 Toyota RAV4
If you are looking to activate the power liftgate from the cabin of the RAV4, you can press the button, which is located next to the AWD switch (if equipped) to the lower left of the steering wheel. You can also press and hold the liftgate button on the Smart Key.
To program the power liftgate to stop at a certain height, all you need to do is push the close button (located on the door jamb of the rear liftgate) once to stop it when it reaches your desired height. Then, press and hold it until a buzzer sounds.
