The longevity of the Toyota Camry name can be attributed to a lot of things, and adaptability is one worth highlighting. Like a blank canvas, the Camry can be built light and inexpensive for efficiency and ease of budget, or it can be pumped up with a powerful V6 and loaded from bumper to bumper with high-tech equipment, and anything in between. Nearly every trim of the modern Camry is even available in hybrid form as well, allowing fans of alternative energy to explore the model.
For the 2021 model year, the Camry is offered in 12 trims, provided you count hybrid versions as totally different trims. Not counting hybrid versions, the list of trims comes to 8. In the following list, hybrid models will be grouped in the same row as their gasoline counterparts as all of their other features are essentially identical. Some features may only be available on a respective trim instead of standard. The chart places the least expensive trims on top and premium trims on the bottom.
Trim Level |
Highlighted Feature 1 | Highlighted Feature 2 |
LE (Hybrid) | Available AWD | 7-Inch Touchscreen with 6 Speakers |
SE (Hybrid) | Sport-Tuned Suspension | Sport SofTex®-Trimmed Front Seats with Fabric Inserts |
SE Nightshade Edition | Nightshade Appearance Package | Automatic Climate Control |
XLE (Hybrid) | Qi-Compatible Wireless Smartphone Charging | Leather-Trimmed Multi-Stage Heated Front Seats |
XSE (Hybrid) | Two-Tone Midnight Black Metallic Roof and Rear Spoiler | Audio Plus Package including 9-Inch Touchscreen with 6 Speakers |
TRD | 12.9-Inch Front Brakes with Red-Painted Front and Rear Calipers | TRD Appearance Badging and Logos |
XLE V6 | 3.5L V6 DOHC Engine | 3 Drive Modes (ECO, Normal, and Sport) |
XSE V6 | 10-Inch Color Heads-Up Display | Panoramic Glass Roof with Front Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof |
Out of all the trims available, the XLE will probably end up being the best seller. As a middle trim for a mid-size sedan, it seems most fitting, and buyers will likely agree. This trim features lots of nice interior technology without overwhelming most drivers.
The upgrade to the TRD is an obvious choice for those that want the sportiest look out of the Camry, but the sportiest performance is only possible with either of the two V6 trims.
